About Anthony & ALS WorkWell Solutions.

I’ve spent more than 20 years working where health, work and people decisions collide - helping individuals recover and return to work, and helping organisations navigate complex absence and workforce health challenges.

Today, I focus that experience into decision focused executive coaching for HR leaders. I provide a confidential thinking space for HR Directors, Senior HRBPs and People Leaders who are carrying high stakes, emotionally heavy cases and need somewhere safe to think clearly.

Alongside my full time role, I run a small, specialist coaching practice ALS WorkWell Solutions.

Low volume. High trust. Coaching only.

Anthony Savage – ALS WorkWell Solutions Coach and Consultant

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with senior people professionals and leaders who:

  • Are accountable for complex sickness absence or workforce health decisions

  • Feel the emotional and organisational weight of those cases

  • Want a confidential, senior level sounding board - not legal or clinical advice

  • Value reflection, clarity and robust decision making

If you’re holding complex stories, balancing risk and care, and don’t always have a safe space to talk it through, this is where I come in.

COMMON COMPLEX ABSENCE CHALLENGES HR LEADERS BRING TO COACHING

HR Directors and Senior HR Business Partners often seek coaching support when managing:

  • long term sickness absence with uncertain return pathways

  • complex mental health absence

  • sensitive health disclosures impacting capability

  • cases mixing wellbeing, performance and risk

  • emotionally heavy situations where HR becomes the container

  • high stakes decisions where clarity is essential

  • conflicting organisational pressures around timelines and outcomes

MY BACKGROUND

Over two decades, I’ve held senior roles across:

  • workplace health and wellbeing

  • rehabilitation and return-to-work services

  • complex case management

  • clinical pathway design

  • operational and service leadership

  • absence strategy and workforce resilience

I’ve led multidisciplinary teams, shaped national wellbeing programmes, overseen rehabilitation and mental health services, strengthened provider partnerships and supported thousands of individuals and leaders through recovery, change and uncertainty.

My experience includes:

  • Leading relationships with specialist clinical and wellbeing providers

  • Designing and improving customer care and rehabilitation pathways

  • Directing workplace wellbeing, mental health and absence management services

  • Managing high volumes of complex absence and rehabilitation cases

  • Delivering governance, safeguarding and service quality oversight

  • Coaching leaders and professionals navigating challenging people scenarios

This breadth allows me to understand the human, organisational and system level realities HR leaders face — especially when cases become complex, sensitive or emotionally charged.

HOW THIS SUPPORTS HR LEADERS

Because I’ve seen these challenges from multiple angles - individual, organisational, clinical and operational, I understand:

  • the emotional load HR leaders carry

  • how quickly complexity can escalate

  • the tension between compassion, performance and risk

  • the impact of uncertainty and fragile decision pathways

  • what happens when difficult decisions are rushed, delayed or avoided

My coaching brings:

  • Context from deep experience across workforce health

  • Calm structure when cases feel overwhelming or stuck

  • Clear, reflective challenge that improves the quality of thinking

  • A safe place to say what cannot be said internally

You already know the policies, processes and stakeholders.

I help you think clearly within that reality, not outside it.

HOW I WORK (COACHING, NOT CONSULTANCY)

My approach is:

  • Coaching led and non directive

  • Confidential and reflective

  • Designed to strengthen judgement, clarity and confidence

  • Focused on you — not the case itself

  • Boundaried and ethical

I do not provide:

  • clinical or medical advice

  • legal or HR advisory services

  • case management or operational recommendations

  • written reports or formal case opinions

  • guidance on organisational processes or decisions

All decisions remain with you.
My role is to support your thinking, not to advise or instruct.

MY STYLE

Clients describe my coaching as:

  • grounded

  • calm

  • pragmatic

  • emotionally steady

  • clear thinking

  • supportive yet appropriately challenging

I help you slow down, step back and think with more clarity — especially when the situation feels complex, personal or high risk.
